Will Bangalore be the next possibe target ? |
It's been going on for quite sometime now. Everytime there is a major attack in any corner of India, the question pops us will Bangalore be the next target?
Bangalore already experienced an attack from terrorists last December when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire in the campus of Bangalore's Indian Institute of Science and killed a Professor from IIT Delhi. There were several reports in various media last year that Bangalore is a possible target which made the city more panicky. New Delhi Police who shot and killed three terrorists last March said that some of Bangalore's software firms and services outsourcing industry are likely targets for a terrorist group operating in the country. According to the police in New Delhi, the terrorists had visited Bangalore and surveyed the locations of many software firms here. The police gathered this information from a diary seized from two captured associates of the slain terrorists. Items recovered during the capture include: maps of call centers in Bangalore, 100 kilos of dynamite, 10.5 kilos of RDX explosive, 450 detonators, three AK-56 rifles and a satellite phone. Bangalore is starting to appear again on the radar of militant groups, some say after yesterday's attack on Mumbai's suburban trains. Today's newspaper reports state that ISCON and the IT majors Infosys and WIPRO are possible targets by the terrorists. According to highly placed sources in the Central intelligence agencies, the prime target of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) the most active Pakistan-based terrorist outfit in India in Bangalore is likely to be Iskcon followed by the two IT majors, Infosys and Wipro. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) in Bangalore reportedly tops the target list of international terrorist organisations. The dastardly attack on the Mumbai trains leaving about 200 innocents killed and several hundreds injured have made the bangaloreans think very seriously: Is Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley, a potential target for attack by terrorists? If yes, Is the Karnataka Government or its security machinery well prepared to handle such a catastrophe? While Bangalore was one of the cities put on high alert immediately when the news of Mumbai blasts came out, and the people were assured that the police had tightened security at important places, the question is still on top of everyone's mind Is Bangalore a likely target?
This is our city and we should be prepared to prevent such attacks on innocent people. We look forward for your valuable thoughts and suggestions as to what the Government should do to prevent these attacks. Let us know? In the meanwhile,
